Who shoulders the responsibility for my plight, our plight.
On June 15, 2008 a poised and increasingly media savvy, political phenomenon delivered, seemingly divinely inspired words. He said : ..., " We know that more than half of all Black children live in single parent households, a number that has doubled - doubled - since we were children. We know the statistics, that children who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime; nine times more likely to drop out of school and 20 times more likely to end up in prison. They are more likely to have behavioral problems, or run away from home, or become teenage parents themselves. And the foundations of our community are weaker because of it. "
True words indeed, powerful in their delivery, but not precise in their tone and their feel. See its been my experience that sometimes you have to slap a person in the face, with the pure unadulterated truth. And the truth of the muthafuckin matter -is that- black communities no longer have a foundation. Public stupidity is the norm. We have kept it real to the point that shit is really fucked up.
The thug mentality is the mentality of the masses.
No one bothers with socially accepted norms, or good graces that can be taken as manners. Black Men routinely conduct themselves like stereotypical black brutes, and Black Women seem to revel in the stereotypical portrayal of them as whoreish gold diggers, bedding down, and creating mongrel's for the sake of a dollar. What is happening to us? I am Southside for life born in Englewood, bred in Roseland. So I am speaking from first hand knowledge. We are no longer the dignified people we used to be.
We have succumb to our stereotypes, embracing them to the point that they are now pop culture fact. Phrases like Baby Momma, and Baby Daddy are common place in our lexicon. Since when have bastards been socially acceptable? Now I know that some are going to feel like I am airing the dirty laundry of the black community, those persons whom ever they are, should shut the fuck up and bring me some washing powder !!!
I am tired of being coddled by our so called black leaders. The 13th amendment was ratified in 1865 and its now 2009, do the math homie. Lets find another excuse, slavery's a little old. Now I am not ignoring the, ugly bitch that is racism - racism - particularly institutional racism does exist, but so does gravity and its routinely overcome. Just once I would like for Sharpton or Jackson to address the people and say: " You know some of ya'll ain't got shit, cause you ain't never worked for shit, get a job mutha fucka !! "
Mutha fuckas on LINK and WIC, eat better and drink better than I do, and I am gainfully employed. Its government assistance not government lifetime benefit.
We are accountable, each one should and has to teach one.
We have to endeavor to build strong, taxpaying, well adjusted, African American Men and Women. Not government fed and housed, Baby Mommas, and Baby Daddies. Unfortunately I have to end my rant, because unlike so many in my community, I gotta go to work. The proceeding was, is, and always will be inspired by my love for myself, and my black people.
